Biography
I am often seen as a master of many things, but bear with me if you already know my story; I am sure there will be something new for you here.
More than twelve years ago, during my junior year of high school, I picked up a camera for the first time and fell in love. Every day after school, I would go hiking along the lakes, creeks, and forests of California’s San Bernardino Mountains, where I grew up. I would take pictures of water flowing over the rocks in the streams by my house or stunning views of the Inland Empire from “The Rim,” a cliffside highway that ran through town.
Photography became my sport. I watched videos and learned from the masters, then practiced what I had learned until I felt I had perfected it. Sometimes, I returned to the same locations to test new compositions, exposure times, or lighting conditions until I got it just right.
In my senior year of high school, I printed, matted, and submitted “Pristine” to the Mountain Artist’s Guild and won first place in a student art competition. This validated and cemented that landscape photography was something I truly enjoyed and was good at.
I met my now husband, Josh, in 2016, and from the very beginning, we bonded over our shared spirit of adventure. We would get in the car and drive for hours until we got somewhere new to take a picture—never taking the same road twice.
That same spirit has guided us on countless journeys together over the past 9-years. We’ve traveled to 3 countries, 13 states, 33 national parks, drove +250,000 miles, taken over a million photos, and counting.
If you’re not already, consider taking a moment to follow our journey on Instagram @rennackerart, where I share stories about our adventures and the beautiful public lands Josh and I have enjoyed exploring. By this point, I think we can call ourselves experts on the American West. So, if you ever have questions about national parks, hike recommendations, the great outdoors, or if you’re just traveling somewhere and would like some recommendations—send me a message or leave a comment!
We’d love to connect!
